Cakes, Party Decorations

Father’s Day is just around the corner

I’m going to start this post out with exclusive savings just for you :); 20% off your next order! Just mention “DAD20” when placing your order, it’s that easy :). And no, it doesn’t have to be a Father’s Day order, this coupon doesn’t expire (though it does have a one time use ;)).

I have so many great memories with my dad; teaching me to ride a bike, coaching my softball team, teaching me to drive, helping me find my first job, teaching me to save up for a car, then finding the perfect car for me to buy (that wasn’t easy, I had a list of so many different things I wanted in a car, so he really had his work cut out for him, but he did it :)). In 2011 he got promoted to Grandpa & has done an amazing job at that too :).

Now, I’m so thankful for my husband and the wonderful father he is to our kids, playing baseball, going hiking, playing video games, & he enjoys taking them to school every morning :). All this correlates to this months cake post 🙂 & how my Dad, husband, & my family pitched in to make my daughter’s Covid birthday so awesome!

Last year with everything happening with Covid I wanted to take precautions for my daughters Oct. birthday. I wanted to plan something outdoors with limited food available for everyone to grab :). So we decided on an outdoor movie night & my daughter wanted cupcakes that looked like popcorn buckets. Everyone got “movie tickets” in their invitations & my daughter manned the ticket booth at the sidewalk entrance leading to the backyard movie :).

Of course what’s a movie night without a concession stand & concession food right :). For less germ passing I decided to create the concession stand in our garage & my family manned it (Dad, Mom, Sister, Brother-in-law, & my husband :)). We had the side door open with a “concession booth” blocking the entrance & everyone lined up to get concessions; sodas, chips, burgers, brats, & hotdogs naturally 😉 & of course the “popcorn bucket” cupcakes. I will admit there were a couple of the younger kids who need reassuring that there wasn’t really popcorn on top of their chocolate cupcake, only marshmallows lol.

Dinner was served, my husband manned the grill & kept the meat stocked, Mom & sister took the orders & got the drinks, while Dad & brother-in-law fulfilled the orders :). The kids played for another hour or so while we were setting up the movie (Dad made the movie screen!), then the concession stand opened back up for movie candy, popcorn, hot cocoa, & coffee to enjoy the movie with. We set up a couple tarps in front of the movie screen & everyone stretched out on sleeping bags/pillows to enjoy the movie.

With my mini projector & little bluetooth speaker setup, the kids enjoyed Storks on a 12′ screen :). The weather couldn’t have been better & the movie screen was phenomenal. My husband manned the camera, taking videos & pictures of everything while I got things set up & running. After the movie it was time for the surprise cake that I’d made my daughter; a replica of her movie night complete with a mini “movie” on a movie screen :). I took the pictures from my daughters birthday (pictures from on her actual birthDAY & pictures from her birthday party were all on the mini screen on the cake & all the kids got to see themselves :).

All the kids had an awesome time & the parents enjoyed it too :). The weather couldn’t have been better & I loved creating the cake & cupcakes to make my daughter’s day as great as I could :). I love making these memories with my family & creating those special sweets to add to other families’ memories as well :).

Have a SWEET day!
