Hi, I’m Jenni. I was born in Lighthouse Point, FL, but grew up in Fort Payne, AL. Now I live here in Madison County, AL, with my wonderful husband of 13 years & my two amazing children. In my free time, I enjoy reading (suspense & mysteries are my favorite though I do enjoy an occasional Christian Romance as well especially if there’s some suspense thrown in), watching movies with my husband (suspense are my favorite), and occasional video games (such as Assassins Creed & Call of Duty, & Avengers with the whole fam ;)).
Growing up, our Mom, (Diane Worden, find her here at lookoutmountainquilter.com) always made our birthday cakes; whatever we really loved that year (pony’s, puppies, etc.) and we loved them all. She also made cakes for others and when I was old enough she showed me how to do it. If I remember correctly, the basket weave was the first hard icing technique I learned and it was my favorite. We did a round cake with a basket weave all around the side, decorated the top with buttercream icing roses and Royal Icing flowers. Over the years I didn’t decorate as much; busy with school, then work, then family. When our daughter had her 1st birthday I really wanted to make her feel special with her own special cake and decorations, just as my Mom had done for me. She loved Mickey Mouse that year (both my kids did at 1 lol), so I decided to make a square cake & create a 3D Rice Krispy treat Mickey Mouse covered in fondant, holding a #1, to put on top of the cake. Since I’d never worked with fondant before, I called in reinforcements, my Mom, for help with creation suggestions, and occupying my rambunctious toddler :). I was pretty happy with the outcome & my daughter loved it, which is what mattered the most :).
Since then I have made cakes for each of my children’s birthdays (they’re 9 & 7 now, & have started designing their own cakes for me to create now :)). A few of their parties (cakes & decorations) are detailed under “party ideas” on the main menu.
In 2019 I decided I wanted to expand & create themed desserts for others 🙂 & opened my cottage bakery. To this date I’ve had the pleasure of creating desserts for bridal showers, weddings, baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day & just because.
