This was made to surprise my sister for her 29th birthday. Since she’s a veterinarian and she loves animals, a dog was the perfect cake shape. It’s head was styrofoam, that I covered in fondant to get a general head shape, and the rest of the body is cake, except the front paws and tail, those were fondant wrapped around straws. Chocolate buttercream icing was piped onto the cake with a grass tip, and green buttercream piped onto the cake board (can we say hand cramps? haha). A neckerchief, a twisted fondant “rope” toy, candles, and a nametag on it’s back, and he was finished. His head was bobbly during transport and I just knew it would fall off at any moment, but he survived & my sister was very surprised!
