in the back with a trapeze connecting two 10″ round cakes. One 10″ has a seal holding a beach ball
. The seal was made by flipping a plastic dolphin (found at Target) upside down and covering it with fondant
until it resembled a dolphin. The second 10″ cake had a plastic elephant with fondant decorations and a fondant puppy holding a sign, on his back
. Both were iced in yellow buttercream with fondant triangle/star accents and store-bought “happy birthday” candles. The two 10″ round cakes were connected with a “trapeze” in front of the circus tent cake. The trapeze with created using two straws (from the party) and a piece of strong florist wire. Fondant balloons and a fondant girl hanging by her hair holding hula hoops completed the look. Going along with the circus theme, we made clown and balloon cupcakes. The clown cupcakes
had sugar cone “hats” and sprinkles for their “hair”. Crispy M&M’s gave us the perfect “balloons” we needed on the balloon cupcakes
and then “balloon string” was piped on. Here is the finished cake display at the party
and I must say we were extremely pleased with the look.
