This was a Mother’s Day cake to surprise my Mom and my Grandmother. Almost entirely edible, with a chocolate fondant flower pot holding chocolate cake, Oreo cookie dirt, gum paste flowers, pretzel stick flowers, and white chocolate butterflies. To finish the look, the cake board was covered in fondant to replicate a tile floor, a fondant spade was added, and a bit of cookie crumb “dirt” was sprinkled around to really complete that “just potted” look . Add a “to and from” card inserted into the arrangement and it appeared to be a flower delivery. The gum paste flowers looked so real, that upon finding out it was actually cake, both my mom and grandmother were astonished and delighted (because who wouldn’t be, it’s cake 😁).
